It’s shibori — an incredible Japanese dyeing technique that has inspired artists around the world. Shibori asters take a piece of fabric, tie it with thread, twist it, fold it, and dip it into dye. When the threads are removed, a complex, almost magical pattern appears on the silk. The result is always unpredictable: no one knows exactly what the final pattern or color blend will be until the very end. This element of surprise is what makes each shibori piece so unique and full of life. To us, the texture of shibori feels a bit like marshmallow.
